East Himalayan Folk Quintet is a folk-jazz-blues crossover instrumental band that draws inspiration from the rich folk traditions of Northeast India. Led by brothers Ojonav and Baibhav Hazarika, the band infuses these influences into an acoustic guitar-driven soundscape. Originating from Ojonav Hazarika’s acclaimed album Roots of Terracotta-Assam, their music blends mellow, meditative tones with lively, upbeat themes.
The band has performed at renowned events like the Majuli Music Festival and Ziro Music Festival. One of their standout instrumental tracks, Stork’s First Flight, features on a vinyl compilation published by the Netherlands-based label Gurugurubrain, alongside artists from Japan, North Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and China.
