Jyoti Hegde is a celebrated Rudraveena maestro specializing in the Khandarbani style of Dhrupad. As the only female disciple of Ustad Asad Ali Khan, she is a dedicated torchbearer of this rare tradition. Her music blends the vitality of Khandarbani with the nuanced depth of the Agra Gharana, influenced by Pandit Indudhar Nirody. Her Raag presentations are meditative, seamlessly merging tradition with creativity.
Initially trained in Sitar and Rudraveena in the Khayal style under Dr. Bindu Madhav Pathak, she later embraced Dhrupad, the purest form of Indian classical music. Performing globally at festivals like the Darbar Festival, her accolades include the Dhrupadmani and Nada-Nidhi Awards.
Based on a farm near Sirsi, she runs the ‘Swami Rama Veenagram’ Gurukul, nurturing the next generation of musicians. A pioneer committed to preserving her heritage, she continues to inspire through her artistry and dedication to the Rudraveena tradition.
